I’ve gone through so many phases in my photography career. Some months i eat and sleep photography, and some *rare* times i feel so burned out that it can be hard to find the motivation to pick up the camera. Luckily, i have to always pick it up because it’s my job. (LOL) But once the camera is in my hands, there is literally nothing i love doing more! When the motivation is lacking though, you will not find me out shooting for myself. 🙁  Which means sometimes capturing my own family falls by the wayside. I just don’t want to feel like I am “working” when i am with them.

Thankfully inspiration can come out-of-the-bule and from some unlikely places. The challenge is deciding on whether to follow through on it or not. I had been feeling guilty about not taking some great shots of my own kids for a long while. And on this day we were at the mall, and we grabbed some totally cute outfits from Zara, and I knew a photo session just had to be done! (I love Zara so much for kids clothes). Photography doesn’t always have to be a big planned out ordeal. Sometimes i feel like less planning leads to more genuine results. So, we just took a fun walk out in our town and had a little fashion – headshot style photo-shoot. And it was a blast! I really just need to have the camera in my hands, because once i do everything just falls into place.

This post is going to serve as a reminder to myself that i need to bring my two loves together so much more; family + photography. Because i know that even if it’s hard to get started, it always so worth it in the end. My next challenge is getting myself in front of the camera too. Because documenting these fleeting moments is so important. It’s one of the most important things really.
